This year’s Met Ball had a futuristic theme in order to mark the arrival of the new exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology to New Yorks Metropolitan Museum of Art’s.
While, as is to be expected with the Met Gala, some celebrities went all out (think Lady Gaga’s circuit board inspired bodice and Madonna’s bum and boob revealing outfit) we were delighted to see a number of wearable (or at least adaptable) looks which ‘real-life’ brides can take inspiration from.
Here are some of our favourites:
Love the metallic bodice on Gigi Hadid’s Tom Ford number? How about looking at ‘Carrie’ from Jenny Packham’s 2017 collection (available from September).
We don’t think we’ve ever seen someone look so much like Disney’s Cinderella as Claire Danes did in her Zac Posen gown. While Claire’s dress actually lit up we think a more wearable “Princess”option would be this gown from Lazaro’s 2017 collection. The full ball gown wedding dress, while it doesn’t light up, is covered in sparkles which glitter and twinkle in the light.
It’s not a Whisper & Blush style round-up without a shout out to the 3d-Floral trend! We loved Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa and recommend brides to check out this gorgeous dress from the new Pronovias 2017 collection with it’s delicate floral embroidery across the bodice.
Wedding dresses don’t need to be white and we’re increasingly seeing fashion-forward brides opt for golden hues. We loved Sienna Miller’s Gucci number and think that the ‘Juliette’ dress from the Kelly Faetanini 2017 collection would be stunning, especially for a winter wedding.
