I often find myself on ASOS sorting by, “What’s New” and adding things that I love to my saved items. My husband will no doubt disagree, but I don’t always add to the basket and check out. Quite often I will, (very sensibly) sit on things and wait until I know for sure they’ll be a suitable purchase. But sometimes, I will just go for it when I fall for something.
As soon as I saw this dress I knew it would be a “go for it” item. While ASOS class this as a maxi, I’d call it a long-midi. It doesn’t skim the ankles or the floor like a true maxi but does hang lower than a “normal” midi. (I’m around 5ft 7 FYI).
I wanted this dress as I hoped that you could style it in different ways from casual to glam – and I’m glad to say you really can. The relaxed fit and simple shape make this such a good everyday summer staple, with sunnies and some sandals it’s a great dress for shopping, site-seeing and errand running. But for an evening, the dark grey colour and bold eyelet detail makes a statement without being too in your face, and the side splits to give a hint of the leg when teamed with heels, but without being too OTT.
I’ve been able to wear this in numerous ways already. With sandals for shopping in Milton Keynes, with heels for an evening of pizza and prosecco in Milan and more recently, as these pictures show, with casual sliders from River Island and Quay Australia sunglasses for a spot of sightseeing in Ibiza Old Town.
I thought it would be a great option for anyone attending a summer wedding who needs to travel light (perhaps cabin baggage only). No, it’s not quite wedding guest appropriate, but will be great for pre-wedding drinks and days out while you’re there (as I did in Milan recently).
